Five ways to stay motivated

Five ways to stay motivatedMotivation is something we all struggle with at some point in our life. When things don’t go as planned or we have other things that are putting stress on our bodies, it can be really hard. I am sharing 5 ways to stay more motivated in today’s post. This doesn’t only apply to one specific area {like weight loss}, it goes for anything.

I am going to use the example of weight loss as I started my journey in January and have been successful so far. But in the past, it was extremely hard for me to gain motivation not only for this but for anything. I “started” about 50 times last year alone and did not succeed. I would do well for maybe a week even two and then something would happen and I was back to where I started. We have all been there! The important part is to not beat yourself up about it and just get right back into it.

  1. Accountability partner. If possible, have that one person that will keep you accountable to your goals. This works really well when you are both working toward something and you can help each other out.
  2. Create a schedule. This one is so important because if you are anything like me, you always find other things to do “cough Netflix cough” than what you are supposed to be doing. Having a schedule you follow helps you achieve your goals and get your work done and can also schedule in some down time too.
  3. Keep quotes on sticky notes around the house. Sometimes, all it takes is the right quote at the right time for me to get me motivated again. Jot down your fave quotes and stick them anywhere in the house you will often see them. I’ll tell you right now, there are two on the fridge at my house! 😉
  4. Go for a walk. Not only is it healthy and you’ll get your steps in but walking is so great for clearing your mind. I love taking walks alone and being with my thoughts. I call this having a meeting with yourself. Reminding yourself why you started (whatever you started) in the first place and what your goals are.
  5. Celebrate the little things. Instead of having one big goal, create smaller ones and celebrate when you reach them. For example, I had a pair of OTK boots that I bought last year that didn’t fit. Once I fit in them, I rewarded myself with a pedicure and it felt so good to reach that goal! (Don’t think your “reward” always has to be food! There are so many other things you can do to celebrate a goal)

Hope you enjoyed this post! What helps you stay motivated? Would love to hear about it in the comments below! xx
