Tips To Stay Motivated When All You Want To Do Is Quit

Ahhh, motivation. So much easier said than done right? So much going on in our lives from family, work, making time for friends and a social life, when do you ever have time for yourself? And let’s say you do carve out time, how can you possibly have the motivation let alone energy to throw on workout clothes and head to the gym?

Trust me friends, I have been there. And in fact, I am there a lot still too. The thing is, you have to really reallyyyy want it. And you have to truly get it through to yourself that it should be a priority everyday. Putting yourself first isn’t an easy thing to do. When I first started, I felt like I was being selfish, like there must be something else better and more efficient I could be doing with my time. But once you realize that you are worth the one hour a day you set aside for YOU, you actually see how much more you can be present for other things in your life like family, job, friends, etc.

I put together my top tips on how I stay motivated to workout and take care of YOU:

Get up early. This one will take a bit of time to get used to, especially if you are not a morning person. But there is something about getting up to a quite house and enjoying that time to yourself. There are so many benefits to working out in the morning, (aside from having it done and out of the way!) Read this article for more reasonS why.

Set a goal. What is your goal? To lose weight? To run a marathon? To get healthier, stronger? Whatever it is, set a goal and write it down on a piece of paper and stick in wherever you can see it. Remind yourself each day of your goal and what you can do that day to get a tiny bit closer to reaching it.

Buy cute workout clothes. OK, this one really works I promise! It’s a known fact that buying and wearing cute workout clothes while you workout is more fun! I always treat myself to a new pair of leggings, tanK top or sports bra every month if I stayed consistent!

Ask yourself how you would feel at the end of the day if you skipped out. So if you were laying in bed tonight, would you have a legitimate excuse as to why you skipped out on your workout today? Would you feel guilty or would you be happy with yourself?

Put up motivating quotes and photos. Print off quotes and photos that inspire you and post them in your room, bathroom, workout area, wherever it would be hard to miss! I did this and it helps tremendously.

Playlist. Curate a playlist that pumps you up. That will make you want to keep going even when you think you can’t.

Get an accountability buddy. So this one doesn’t work for me, because I love to workout alone, but it may work for you! It may be your hubby, sister, friend. Just make sure you are always on the same page.

Switch it up. Don’t just do the same workout everyday! Not only will you get bored, but your body will get used to the workouts and not produce results. YouTube is amazing for finding different types of workouts for free and all levels!

Do you have any motivation tips that have helped you? Would love to hear in the comments below! xx
